Q: What are the advantages of buying from Diaper Kit.com?
A: Convenience, Quality, Savings
- All absorbent fabrics are professionally pre-washed
- All diaper body layers, soakers, doublers and wipes are professionally
pre-cut
- No estimating fabric yardages & trying to guess how much
your fabric will shrink
Q. How does DiaperKit.com save me money?
A: You save money in several ways:
- When you order fabric by the piece or by the yard you pay for
what will become scraps in the trash. You also pay to ship that
extra fabric!
- Since we do all of the cutting - you are no longer spending money on rotary blades and/or scissors.
- Since we do all of the washing and drying - you save on electricity, gas and laundry soap
Q: How does DiaperKit.com save me time?
A: By eliminating several steps in making diapers.
- When fabric by the yard arrives it must be washed and dried
several times for optimum shrinkage.
- Fabrics such as flannel,
birdseye, gauze and twill require ironing before they can be cut.
- Since we do all of the cutting - you don't need to spend time laying out yards of fabric to cut out a diaper pattern.
- Cutting out more than just a few diapers can take hours. Not to mention the sore neck & back that can come from spending hours cutting fabric.
- Have you ever had a rotary blade just refuse to cut through hemp or other fabrics on the first pass? We eliminate this waste of time too!
Q: How does DiaperKit.com benefit WAHMs?
A: Work At Home Moms (WAHMs) probably benefit the most from our services. You save an amazing amount of time and money.
- For a WAHM, time is money and we save you loads of time by eliminating washing, drying, ironing and cutting. We've even cut the hook & loop pieces for you!
- You are no longer paying for what will become scraps of fabric in your trash.
- You are able to sew more diapers than ever before in the same amount of time.
Q: What exactly comes in a diaper kit?
A: Precut fabrics, elastic, Touch Tape® (hook & loop tape) and a size tag needed to make one complete
diaper or cover.
Q: Why don’t you cut the elastic into the correct
length for each size?
A: Because it is much easier to sew elastic in when you have plenty
to hang onto. After you have sewn the elastic in, you back stitch
and cut the elastic. Trying to sew pre-cut lengths of elastic can
be very difficult as well as frustrating. We do our best to give
you a bit more elastic than should be needed since some pull it
really tight while others like it a bit looser.
Q: Can I trace the cutouts?
A: Yes, and no. Our pattern was painstakingly hand drawn in every size over several months and is protected by copyright laws. We give exception if you want to put a cute print on the outside - go right ahead.
Please keep in mind that a cute print on the outside of an AIO will not work - it will wick moisture because of the legs rolling in. For covers, it is best to go with polyester or nylon. It is generally to be considered a "daytime" only cover if you use a cotton fabric. There may be wicking around the legs. Cotton is a thirsty fabric and if it comes into contact with moisture it immediately begins to pull the moisture into itself. Cotton prints are perfect to add to doublers, wipes, and fitted diapers. Don't forget to send me a picture of your beautiful creations!
Q: Can I sell the diapers once I sew them?
A: Yes! As mentioned above, the pattern is copyrighted and it is illegal
to copy or create from our pattern. It's also a good idea to look into what is required in your area to have a business. Cottage licensing information can be found here.
Q: What if I really mess up sewing?
A: You can email us with your situation. Most mistakes are fixable,
some may not be. We all make mistakes sometimes.
