Selecting FabricsThere are lots of diaper fabrics to choose from. We have chosen our favorites to offer. We use cloth diapers made from our diaper kits on our own children and always test our fabric choices before offering them to you. We love to hear from our customers - so please let us know if there are diaper fabrics you would like us to carry. If there is enough interest in a particular fabric, we will do our best to provide it to you! Bamboo We are very excited to offer bamboo fabric! We searched for a bamboo fabric
that was soft and durable. We have found it in our bamboo fleece.
It is a knit fabric so it has stretch to it. It is a light sweatshirt
like fabric. Smooth on one side and soft fleece on the other side.
It stays soft wash after wash. Bamboo fabric is thought to have some amazing
properties. Among them, antibacterial, anti fungal and mold resisting.
Bamboo is also very environmentally friendly. 65% bamboo, 35% cotton Cotton Flannel We offer 100% cotton flannel in white and unbleached. It is soft, durable
and makes a very trim diaper. The unbleached flannel is slightly heavier weight than the bleached white flannel. Both are woven fabrics (no stretch
to it) which makes them very easy to sew. The cost and comfort of these fabrics make them excellent diaper fabric choices. Organic Velour Our organic velour is 100% certified organic ring
spun cotton. It is wonderful! We just can't say enough about this
luxurious fabric. This velour stays soft wash after wash. It is
very absorbent and plush. Cloth diapers made with velour are not as trim
as those made with the other fabrics, but for softness and absorbency- they are
incredible! This is a knit fabric which means that it is stretchy.
Fabrics that stretch can take some practice to sew with. We don't
recommend this particular fabric for making your first diaper. Woven
fabrics such as flannel are much easier to learn with. Organic Hemp Terry Our hemp terry is certified organic 55% hemp & 45% cotton. Hemp is extremely
absorbent. It is also environmentally friendly, resists mold and
bacteria growth. The cotton content gives softness. Hemp terry is
smooth on one side with small loops on the other side. We prefer
to put the smooth side next to baby for diapering and to use the
loop side out on wipes. Those little loops are great for wiping
off poo! This is a knit fabric which means that it is stretchy.
Fabrics that stretch can take some practice to sew with. Organic Flannel Our certified organic flannel is 100% unbleached cotton. It is a heavy
weight flannel. Flannel is a woven fabric so there is no stretch to it, making it easy to sew. This is a very absorbent fabric that makes a very trim diaper. This particular flannel is best used as a hidden layer. 100% Cotton Unbleached Birdseye Birdseye is a lightweight classic diaper fabric. It is very soft and absorbent. Definitely one of our favorites. The kits come with more layers of fabric, however since the fabric is so light, it remains one of the trimmest diapering fabrics. 80/20 Velour This plush velour is made of 80% cotton & 20% polyester. The polyester adds durability. We have paired this super soft velour with our conventional flannel to create extra soft & absorbent diapers with only cushy velour against baby's skin. Fabric is offered in white and ivory. |
